To all those who haven’t noticed
yet, it is 2015. Which can only mean one thing: The Hustle continues. Last year
I introduced you to my favourite brands and judging by what they did in the
previous year, we can only expect the best from them this year. And so to kick
off the year, with this two-part post, I thought I’d present to you the brands that
we should look out for in 2015.
Last year we not only witnessed the
following brands bring the heat but thanks to RHTC we also saw some new brands hit
the scene, helping us leave the year with some interesting Christmas presents.
However, if you are not clued up on the brands I am talking about, it is of course
Soigné, Skinny Sbu Socks and Casio.
And so, in no particular order I’d
like to present to you my favourite street brands which we should definitely
look out for in 2015.
Getting the list started,
representing the ladies is of course Belinda Phofu, who is the creative behind the
SIIC accessory line ‘Style Is Incalculable’. Each piece she creates is as unique
as she is. Belinda doesn’t sketch her designs, because she doesn’t allow
herself to get too technical about them. Instead she allows herself to
interpret her feelings through her pieces. She brings us one of a kind pieces
which can complete and compliment any look and she has a piece for every kind
of lady; whether you love your accessories to be bold or understated she has
something for you.
Although we have Belinda doing it
for the ladies, we also have a particular brand which has been around for some
time now representing both males and females who may consider themselves to be
Unique Iconz. I am of course talking about the UNICONZ. Having been around for
some time now, we can safely say that they have gained some serious street
cred. They give us unique pieces
throughout the year, which can be used to express ones individuality. What
started out as an idea, then a movement has now become a brand which is one of
the driving forces behind our street Culture. They are more than just clothing,
instead they are a brand which challenges Social Norms. And with their
interesting concepts, one can never predict what we can expect from them.
The UNICONZ have been around for
some time now however they are not the only driving force behind our street
Culture. HAMBOGEZA which is founded by
William and Qiniso, is a brand which is starting to make some serious waves on
our streets. William believes that he has no competitors as he believes
everyone should stay in their lane. And it is that thinking that can only make
a brand go far. Teaming up with the Photographer Gondo to bring across his
vision, can only be a match made in heaven; as together they come up with
gripping concepts for their photo-shoots leaving us wanting more. Judging by
last year and their current presence on our streets one can only wait in
anticipation for what they can give us in 2015.
Although I have only mentioned a
few brands in today’s post, there is definitely more to our street culture than
the few I have mentioned. However, this is only the first part of the two-piece
post, therefore, you will have to look out for the next post to find out more
about which brands I believe will give us only the best in 2015.
