Each year we are introduced to new
brands who think that they can take over our street culture in terms of
fashion, however only the toughest and most creative brands who are able to
keep up with the times survive. Therefore I decided to list my favourite brands
which I feel that we should look out for in 2015. And so in today’s post, we
follow up from my last post, which focused on the top street Culture Brands
that we should look out for in 2015.
HAMBOGEZA’s hustle may be going strong but
TRILL AND TAILORED also known as TAT is another brand which one cannot ignore.
Not only is the founder, Mo Mandita, a very stylish guy but he uses his brand
to creatively express himself as an artist. However he isn’t doing this alone,
“the brands growth has been due to the efforts of people such as Roy”. Their creativity isn’t limited in any way or
specific form as Mo desires to inspire with his art and create pieces that will
change industries forever. Soon they will be taking over the country as they
have recently had orders from Cape Town and Durban proving that they do not
only intend to run the street Culture in Johannesburg only, but they intend on
going national.
Staying true to our South African
Roots we have RETROFONTEIN, which was founded by Kabelo Tseko and Sizwe Zulu,
who came up with the idea of having a brand which is inspired by our heritage.
“The essence of why we were inspired to start Retrofontein was because we
wanted to do something that represented our African Heritage”. And what would
our Proudly South African Street Culture be without a brand which actually
represented our roots and where we come from. In a Street culture which is
filled with brands which represent where we currently are as a youth, it is
important to have a brand which can mix up our current culture with our
heritage. Because after all, as they say, it’s important to know where you come
from, to know where you are heading.
The KreativeBeings is a brand that
goes beyond the garment as their focus lies strongly on the design aesthetic of
their products, which is why they have become one of the leading brands which
contribute to our street culture. Their ability to challenge people’s
imagination and interpret that through their designs is what makes them unique
and unforgettable. And which is one of the many reasons why we should look out
for them 2015.
Although we have all these amazing
brands contributing towards our street culture it’s exciting to know that there
is an online store which supports the vision of most of our leading Street
Brands. Founded by Frypan, RETURNING HOME TO CREATE may have created a home for
brands Such as Babatunde, The Uniconz and KreativeBeings. Frypan stated that,
“Culture is an ideology, its theoretical, you experience it every day through
phrases and the clothes you wear. You look at a person’s appearance and from
their appearance you can identify the culture they represent”. Therefore RHTC
sells more than just clothes, they design, and use their designs to manipulate
the Culture in a certain way. And if you have been keeping up with the times
you will know that they have recently created a home for Soigné, Thesis, Skinny
Sbu Socks and Casio.
Our fashion industry is definitely
growing and becoming a big part of our street culture. With brands like these
to look out for we can only expect an exciting 2015. Therefore to ensure that
it keeps growing and improving we should keep support them so that they can
keep on bringing us the best.
