Catching Up With Style Is Incalculable

Spring is here and we are definitely looking towards summer! Even though some of us are staying true to our darker colours our outfits are looking more vibrant and colourful and some have even decided to go for a more daring look, showing more skin than ever before with a variety of great cropped tops and amazing denim shorts to show off our great legs
However what’s a great outfit without amazing accessories. Even Marc Jacobs once said, “An opportunity to adorn one’s self is human, and accessories are an easy way to do it”.  So why don’t you adorn yourself with some accessories from SIIC. Earlier this year I spoke to Miss Belinda who is the creative artist behind the brand Style Is Incalculable and we got a chance to find out more about her and of course the inspiration behind SIIC.
With her new designs that she has for us there is no doubt that she’ll be keeping us looking fresh for this season. And of course with each unique piece you will be able to switch up your outfits without breaking the bank, as her pieces are not only distinctive but they’re affordable too and work for every kind of lady.
We should all look out for SIIC in the nearer future as Miss Belinda has a lot planned for us and will definitely be making her mark in the industry by mixing things up and showing us that her brand is more than just accessories. You can always look out for SIIC at AMERIKANA at 70 Juta, Braamfontein and of course if you would love to keep up with her you can follow her on Twitter and Instagram @S_ii_C. But you can also check her out on Tumblr at www.styleisincalculable.tumblr.com

Galaletsang Koffman

This week’s Fashionista is more than just a stylish individual who definitely has a unique sense of style but she is an artist who expresses herself through Photography, Performance and Poetry not only is she an artist but she is also a student who studies Live Performance at AFDA.  She definitely has a full schedule as she is also a freelance model and is currently shooting different series of photography with different artists.

And this week I had the great opportunity to speak to her and find out a little more about her and of course her style, which when asked how she would describe her style, she simply says “I won’t even try”

Everybody Say Hello to Galaletsang Koffman
1.    Who inspires you in terms of style?
I am inspired by myself. The way I feel that day. I am very much inspired by the woman I want to become.

2.    If you had to invade a celebrity’s closet, which celebrity would it be (Internationally and locally)?
I don't have anyone's closet i would want to invade. Everyone's style is so different and it changes all the time, including my own. I am not a very consistent person when it comes to one genre of style.

3.    Where do you usually do your shopping?
I am always thrift shopping. I don't go to stores because everything there is the same.

4.    Which item of clothing do you believe is a necessity and one cannot live without?
Wow, this is hard. I try not to attach myself to items. So I can live without my bra, my underwear or anything anyone would want to strip from me and still make it work.

5.    It’s finally spring, what’s your number 1 tip for Spring?
Spring!!1 minimal clothing. The weather is getting better so one can always wear less but have so much more to say through their style.

6.    In your spare time, when you aren’t too busy, what do you love doing?
I love shopping, eating, doing yoga, dancing, reading, writing, watching movies and spending time with loved ones.

7.    What do you think of South African Street Culture fashion?
I think street culture is growing. The art direction is basic when it comes to some street brands. Most things look the same. Too many people are afraid of taking risks. People follow too many trends.

8.    If you had to go shopping in a different country where would you go?
Tokyo. I love the fashion and freedom of expression there. The people don’t really care about what others are doing.

9.    Which country do you believe has an interesting sense of style?
England. You find so many different people there. From punk rock to tumblr girls then street wear edgy skaters.

10. Which is your favourite hangout place and why?
Braamfontein and Maboneng. There is good food, music and always new people (I hate going to a place and feeling like I have been there before).

11. Which is your Favourite Fashion Magazine or Magazines?
I try not to read fashion magazines or magazines in general. There is too much gossip and people who follow trends.

12. What is the best part of your job?
Doing what I love and getting to influence other people through it positively.

13. Who do you usually go out with when you do go shopping?
No one. I am an impulsive shopper. So when i feel like it, I usually tell myself, "Hey... Galaletsang, let’s go shopping."

14. Which is your Favourite Label/Brand and why?
I am not a brand whore.

15. What advice do you have for people who are interested in the Fashion industry?
If you are doing it for the money or attention then it will end up being a job. If you are doing it because you love it then you will never have to work hard at it.

16. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I haven’t looked that far into my future. I live each day as it comes.

17. December is around the corner, do you have any travel plans for the festive season?
I never make plans for December. Schedules and plans are over rated

Meet Leanne Van Breda

Recently I’ve had the great opportunity of speaking to Leanne Van Breda, a soft-hearted, travel obsessed, fashion lover , tea drinker cat mom. Her blog is one of my favourite blogs so it was only right for her to be featured on my blog. She is definitely a beauty with brains as she not only manages to keep a fabulous blog but she is currently doing her articles in law.
She would describe her style as modest, elegant and sophisticated, “My love for fashion was almost immediate from the moment I was born.  I always had fun playing with outrageous sunglasses, bold lipsticks, lace gloves and fun hats from very early on.  Some things never change!”
Everyone meet Leanne Van Breda:
  1. Who inspires you in terms of style?
My style isn’t often inspired by a particular person but rather by seasons and my surroundings and reading many, many blogs.  If I had to narrow my inspiration to a single person, though, it would have to be Rachel Parcell from Pink Peonies.

  1. If you had to invade a celebrity’s closet, which celebrity would it be (Internationally or locally)?
Blake Lively without a doubt!  I hope she got to keep some of the clothes from the Gossip Girl set!

  1. Where do you usually do your shopping?
I change it up a lot but I love Zara, Forever New and Cotton On.  I love to shop overseas too!

  1. Which item of clothing do you believe is a necessity and one cannot live without?
A structured blazer is essential in every girl’s closet.

  1. It’s finally spring, what’s your number 1 tip for spring?
Have fun with florals!  It’s the perfect print for the season.

  1. In your spare time, when you aren’t too busy, what do you love doing?
If I have a moment to myself, you are guaranteed to find me with my nose in a book.  I love to read.
  1. What do you think of South African fashion industry?
I think the South African fashion industry often isn’t taken seriously because it can’t compete with European standards but we have so much talent so I support it whole heartedly.
  1. If you had to go shopping in a different country where would you go?
I love to travel so finding new places to shop is one of my favourite things to do.  Bershka in Czech Republic is an amazing store so I’d probably go back there.

  1. Which country do you believe has an interesting sense of style?
The French have style down to a fine art.  Their tailoring is unlike any other.  Everything is so crisp and structured.  To me they are the fashion winners.  What else would you expect from the nation that designed the high heel?!

  1. Which is your favourite hangout place and why?
You’ll find me anywhere that has great food!

  1. Which is your Favourite Fashion Magazine or Magazines?
I don’t read magazines at all, surprisingly.  It’s either a book or a blog

  1. When did you start blogging and what’s the best part about it?
I’m about to celebrate three years of blogging.  I honestly can’t believe where the time has gone!  The best thing about blogging to me would have to be the lessons I’ve learnt along the way.  I’ve had to learn about social media, photography, photoshop, basic coding, marketing, networking, the list goes on.  I studied law at university so this was an entirely new realm to me and definitely one that took me outside my comfort zone.  Another highlight has been the extraordinary people that I have met through my blog that I would never have met otherwise and I’m lucky enough to call many of these people friends.
  1. Who do you usually go out with when you do go shopping?
I can’t shop with other people.  It’s generally something I’m a solo ranger about because I always have a strategy in place and I find other people distracting.  Very weird, I know ;)

  1. What advice do you have for people who are interested in the Fashion industry?
Be creative.  Be yourself.  That’s exactly what everyone is always looking to see.

  1. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In five years I can only hope that I will be an admitted attorney and completing my doctorate in law.  I hope that by then I will have filled my passport with many more travels.  Of course I also plan for my blog to be going from strength to strength bringing you more fashion posts along the way.
