OhOneOne

Last week was a very interesting week for me as I had the amazing chance to speak to Roxy Burger of OhOneOne. We all know OhOneOne is an online store which caters to the needs of the fashion forward woman whose “clothes don’t whisper, they announce her entrance. She is bright, confident and knows what she loves. She isn’t afraid to stand out and be different. That’s exactly what she loves about herself”. And here is all you need to know about the awesome OhOneOne.

“A lack in original, unique and inspiring clothes for the fashion forward women” is what inspired TV Presenter and Producer, Roxy Burger, and Stylist and Personal Shopper, Sarah Mitchell to start their fabulous Online store OhOneOne. “We also felt like eCommerce is the future of retail.” OhOnOne is about uniqueness and definitely not about the ordinary “Why should your clothes not shout out who you are in the world? We believe in clothing that represents who you are as a person – it’s a way of communicating who you are without having to speak.”

OhOneOne will be celebrating their first birthday very soon as it was launched on the 23rd of October 2013, and because they’re still young they spend a lot of their time on marketing their business and constantly evolving their business model and strategy. Even when choosing their models, they usually approach up and coming models to help them build their careers and they also prefer to work with models who they admire in the industry.

Although they’re an online store, everything they stock is proudly OhOneOne as they work with their own designs.  Which is what makes them unique; “We don’t know of any one online store who offers unique, and limited, clothing. There may be a few smaller boutique stores but we don’t believe they have an online presence.” However if given the opportunity they would love to collaborate with a local designer to create a one-of-a-kind range. They offer the best clothing at the most affordable prices and because they mostly trade through the internet they still do aim at giving customers the best service they can offer, especially since they don’t meet their customers face-to-face, so it is important that the customer still feels like they come first.

Most of their style inspiration comes from Cara Delivigne; “We love Cara Delivigne – she is the epitome of what we want to achieve with our style and perspective on fashion.” Hence, they would definitely go through her closet and maybe even her sister Poppy’s closet as well and “It would be awesome to have a peek into Bonang’s closet too”. When it comes to shopping, of course they usually shop at OhOneOne and even in their spare time they’re surfing the net looking out for the latest fashion trends, “we love to browse through the online pages of many awesome fashion websites. And we online shop”

Our South African Fashion Industry is interestingly growing and when I asked Roxy about her opinion on the industry she said “I think we can sometimes be quite timid about our style. And we should be bolder since we have an African spirit within us.” She also believes that our street fashion is getting there as we are more daring than the ordinary.  And she advices anyone wanting to get into the industry to, “be prepared to work incredibly hard for what you want. Success isn’t overnight.”And with OhOneOne ready to celebrate their 1st birthday we can only look forward to more fabulous years from them, as when I asked them where they see themselves in the next 5 years Roxy said, “Taking over the eCommerce industry!”
